Children’s Services, Islington Children’s Health Commissioning Team
The Islington Children’s Health Commissioning Team leads on shaping health services available to support children, young people and their families in Islington. Commissioning is important as it helps to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people whilst making the most of available resources. There are many people and local agencies involved in the commissioning process, which aims to:
• Identify what health services children and young people need, using evidence plan how these needs can be met and commission services to meet these needs.
• Monitor health services to ensure that they are doing what children, young people and families want them to do.
• Involve children, young people and their families throughout the commissioning process ensuring they are instrumental in shaping services.
We are currently looking for: Participation Officer – Children and Young People’s Health Services
We are looking for someone who is dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated and has the relevant knowledge, skills and experience to join our high calibre team as the Children and Young People’s Participation Officer.
As the Children and Young People’s Participation Officer you will continue to develop, promote and embed the culture of participation and involvement of children, young people and their parent/carers in the commissioning of health services in Islington.
The successful applicant will work as a member of the Children’s Health Commissioning Team, who works jointly across both the Islington Clinical Commissioning Group and the Local Authority.
You will have a professional qualification in Health, Education, Social Care or Youth Work, as well as experience of working with and developing inclusive participation opportunities for children and young people within a complex environment. You will have knowledge of key pieces of health legislation, national directives and good practice in relation to participation together with the ability and skills to influence, support and work with colleagues across children’s health services. Most importantly you will have the skills to engage and gain the confidence and respect of children and young people coupled with the knowledge of a wide range of participation techniques and approaches.
The post is 21 hours per week and will work from the council’s main offices at 222 Upper Street as well as the Clinical Commissioning Group at 338-346 Goswell Rd.
