Global Leadership Development Consultant - Open to flexibility

Basic qualifications:

  • Deep and detailed knowledge of up to date theory and practice in leadership development, adult learning theory and development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of blended learning methodologies, especially collaborative technologies.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with psychometrics and assessment approaches used in the selection and development of leaders.
  • Evidence of personal development work resulting in self-awareness.
  • Deep expertise in leadership development proven across multiple business units, geographies, industries.
  • In depth experience of leadership and management including line management experience and functional leadership development experience.
  • Experienced in applying specialist expertise at individual, team, business unit and organisational levels.
  • Recognised as a leadership development expert with credibility both internally & externally.
  • Experienced in the implementation of large multinational, global change programmes.
  • Track record of going beyond implementation so projects achieve measurable and sustainable change.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Organisational Development, Management Education or related field.



To lead the diagnosis, design, development and delivery of the Leadership Development Framework, processes, and curriculum that builds the confidence, capability and capacity of GSK’s leaders. Typically, this is done in partnership with the Business, Global Learning and Development and External Partners. The target audiences for this role are leaders at all levels of the GSK Leadership Pipeline. The Leadership Development Strategy and Framework is focused on developing our current and future leaders to deliver on GSK’s strategic business agenda, including revenue and profit growth, delivering products of value, simplifying our operating model, creating a culture of individual empowerment and building trust.

Leadership development is the cornerstone to the successful implementation of GSK’s Strategic Priorities, driving shareholder value through delivery of a transformed GSK. The decisions made by this role will impact enterprise as well as business unit strategy.


Leading and driving the deliverables of the GSK Leadership Development Framework, ensuring alignment with the business strategy, HR strategy and business operating model.

Leading and directing a progressive leadership development curriculum in line with adult learning principles and research on learning from experience. This curriculum will model the culture of empowerment, simplification, trust, energy management, engagement and leading change and transformation that we are establishing at GSK.

Innovative design expertise, with an emphasis on designing within given constraints, is critical as much of the work involves the creation of new leadership development interventions, not simply the maintenance of existing ones.

Credibility and effective working relationships with Senior Executives, including our CEO/CET, and Governance Board, are critical, as is a highly collaborative working relationship with the other members of Global Leadership Development and the Talent, Leadership & OD team.

Flawless execution is essential to ensure that the Global Leadership Development area of expertise maintains a world class reputation, internally and externally, for its impactful work.

This may include, but is not limited to, acting as a subject matter expert for the following:

  • Management Essentials
  • The First Line Leader programme
  • The Fundamentals of Leadership
  • Leading Delivery
  • Leadership programmes e.g. Leadership Development in Asia and
  • Assessment for selection, potential and development
  • Differentiated development e.g. Enterprise Talent
