The Mayor of London has exciting plans for Culture and Creative Industries in the capital over the next few years. The brief of the Mayor’s Culture Team is being extended to include a wide range of new programmes and policy areas. These include a Cultural Infrastructure Plan, 24 hour London, World Cities and ensuring all Londoners have equal access to the city’s rich cultural offer. 

The Deputy Mayor for Culture and Creative Industries will lead on shaping the Mayor’s cultural strategy.  The GLA culture team is being transformed into a distinct department of the organisation with an enhanced brief to deliver the Mayor’s Cultural Manifesto and the statutory cultural strategy.

As Projects and Policy Officer (Culture at Risk), you will support the development of policy and projects focused on protecting London’s cultural assets and creating opportunities for cultural and creative professionals to thrive in the capital. You will carry out policy research, facilitate stakeholder relationships, deliver projects and manage events.

You will have strong organisational and communications skills, and be able to work to tight deadlines in a high pressure environment. You will have a good understanding of local authority functions in relation to culture, planning and licensing.

This role is a 1 year fixed term contract or secondment.
