MI and Reporting Assistant - Tax Centre of Excellence - Open to flexibility

We are currently looking to recruit a Management Information (MI) and Reporting Assistant on a permanent contract to be based in the Tax Centre of Excellence in Glasgow.

Roles and Responsibilities

The role will involve regular reporting on a number of areas for a range of stakeholders in a thriving department.

  • Running reports as well as writing their own excel formulas (and possibly macros for other users to analyse data where regular updates are required)
  • Ad hoc excel tasks to undertake as assigned or required
  • Manipulating data from various sources into a user friendly summary
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in data where figures do not reconcile
  • Challenge the status quo and look at better ways of reporting to the stakeholders and bring process improvement
  • Working as part of a team and contributing to the achievement of deadlines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills:
  • Holding  Higher/A level Maths and English at Grade B or above  would be advantageous
  • Computer literate – including excel skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and demonstrate resilience under pressure
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • A flexible and positive outlook with a commitment to working as part of a successful team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required in addition to strong numerical and verbal skills.

Experience and Background 

  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Strong organisational skills and adaptable to changing demands and priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to competently write formulas from scratch (IF statement, Vlookups, Sumif etc)
  • Ability to utilise excel skills in the most efficient manner, understanding how to resolve challenges using a variety of formulas and problem solving skills
  • Manipulating large data sets into a user friendly format
  • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Access, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • A keen eye with attention to detail
  • Good analytical, problem solving and reporting skills
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to change and work under pressure
  • Enthusiastic with a can-do attitude
