Department information

Reporting to the Financial Controller for the Central Services, the Finance Manager will provide executive and decision support to the relevant Central Services business leadership team to help drive business performance.  The Finance Manager will also take a leading role in the provision of management information to support decision making, and in all aspects of financial management/control of the business area.

Key responsibilities

•Provide concise and relevant monthly management information to business leadership and key stakeholders to supplement the management information provided centrally to them or available to them from the online systems.
•Working with the business area manage the financial aspects of business planning, budgeting and regular forecasting.
•Monitor performance against budget and key KPIs, challenging the management information and highlighting any issues and trends (e.g. with cost efficiency, profitability etc).
•Provide the business leadership with insightful interpretation of data, including supporting commentaries, presentations, briefings, and benchmarking against other business areas (both internal and external).
•Proactively identify business and commercial issues with a view to maximising business performance. Add value to the activities of the unit, stimulate the generation of ideas and implement best practice.
•Manage the analysis of non-financial related data as required (supplier management, people related, service levels etc) liaising with Procurement and other key teams as appropriate.
•Ensure appropriate processes and controls are adhered to within the business and communicated as appropriate. Provide ad hoc training as necessary.
•Escalate and help to resolve any cross charging issues or recoveries of costs from other offices or departments.
•Take on Recruitment and Performance Management responsibilities for the Finance Administration team as needed, ensuring they are managing workloads, resolving capacity issues and being responsible for training and coaching of the team.
•Assist with wider finance projects and other ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as directed by finance leadership.
•Take a leading role in driving forward innovation initiatives

Qualifications and Experience
•Degree qualified (or equivalent)
•Preferably a fully qualified member of a recognised accounting institute (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance or equivalent commercial roles.
•Experience in accounting for IT infrastructure and project costs preferred.
•Relevant industry experience; Professional Services, Financial Services etc.
