The Real Estate Advisory Service (REAS) comprises a team of Chartered Surveyors based across the UK with representation in London, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh. This is a national role, based in any KPMG office, with a requirement for occasional travel including working from client sites. There will be a requirement on occasion to work from other offices or client site, sometimes internationally. Flexible working arrangements may also be possible.

REAS offers a full range of property services to businesses, ranging from formal insolvency through to advising profitable businesses on enhancing value and solving issues. The team delivers a blend of stakeholder / lender side advisory work, company side advisory and formal insolvency.

This role will focus on working with our Audit Teams across the UK and occasionally internationally with a specific emphasis on reviewing property valuations and liaising with our clients and their professional advisors. The key objective is to identify any areas of risk associated with real estate issues our clients may be exposed to. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our Audit team on a vast range of clients across funds, public sector bodies, property developers, investors, corporates and housing associations.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Work closely with Audit Teams across the UK to review the valuation and supporting information provided in each case. Deliver a report verifying that the values proposed are realistic and highlighting any areas of risk
  • Assist the Head of Real Estate Advisory Services manage resources and allocation of jobs to the team members
  • Provide support on tenders and proposals for new Audit and Advisory engagements where Real Estate expertise is required including attending and potentially presenting at formal pitches as necessary
  • Assist the team to deliver REAS business plan by providing specialist surveying expertise
  • Support and expand the offering of the REAS team, take responsibility for agreed areas of origination and business development

Qualifications and skills

  • Qualified Chartered Surveyor with general practice experience across a wide range of sectors
  • Ability to work innovatively, learn quickly and ‘self-start’
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work on and deliver several projects concurrently
  • Exceptional communication skills with a well-developed ability to write concise reports
  • Diligence, with an eye for forensically analysing reports, valuations and data and have a good rounded understanding of property valuation, investment and development

Experience and Background

  • Sound valuation skills and commercial business acumen
  • Desire to build an extensive network of internal and external contacts across Deal Advisory and the wider firm
