Finance Manager, Part-time 2.5 days/wk

£38k, pro rata for 2.5 days a week (with flexibility over the year) plus pension.

Reporting to: CEO

Functions:

Bookkeeping

Creates financial transactions and financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. Also, to reconcile all control accounts to ensure their accuracy.

  • Balancing accounts
  • Maintaining sales and purchases ledgers
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Liaison with HMRC 
  • Checking company bank statements
  • Preparing cash flow statements
  • Dealing with financial paperwork and filing

​​Finance management 

  • Production of monthly/quarterly management accounts
  • Prepare profit and loss sheets for annual accounts
  • Monitoring cash flows and predicting future trends
  • Analyzing change and advising accordingly
  • Liaising with auditors to ensure annual audit is carried out
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
  • Preparing and managing  budgets
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation
  • Reviewing financial systems and processes to ensure that the necessary controls are in place
  • Job advertising, events invoicing and receipting
  • Chasing of outstanding invoices.

Office support

  • Minute taking for the AGM and Executive
  • Ordering stationery and furniture etc
  • Liaising with staff regarding budget responsibility
  • Implementing and maintaining office administrative systems
  • Organising induction programmes for new employees
  • Ensuring that health and safety policies are up to date
  • Using a range of software packages
  • Keeping personnel records up to date and arranging recruitment processes

Person Specification:

  • An ability to work quickly and accurately
  • An ability to work to deadlines
  • Good computer skills (especially with databases and SAGE )
  • A recognised accounting qualification
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including the charities’ SORP.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the SAGE accounting software package.
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Motivated and resourceful
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Experience of building effective working relationships
  • Sense of humour
