Our Public Realm Division ensures that the London Borough of Hackney is clean, safe and accessible for all our residents, businesses and visitors. Our Streetscene team is responsible for the design and maintenance of all highway networks, footways, bridges and lighting on all public roads, contributing to the wellbeing of our community and creating a sustainable public realm.
We are looking for School Crossing Patrol Officers to join our team. You will be based at an allocated school or site within the Borough and will be required to escort children, parents and members of the public across the road. As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, your duties will involve stopping traffic and being responsible for the Safety of children and other Pedestrians once they arrive at your site.
You may be required to keep notes on any incidents that occur at your allocated location and report these to your line manager.
Due to the nature of the times allocated to the role it would be preferable for the selected candidate not to have to travel too far to the designated sites. Please be aware that the role is term time, you will be required to work eleven hours a week during the 39 weeks of term time per year. Holidays must be taken during school holidays due to the nature of the role.
Excellent communication skills and a calm, confident approach are what we are looking for. This is a part time position which requires availability during fixed hours at the beginning and end of each school day, Monday to Friday, Term-time only. You will be allocated a permanent site where you will build relationships with schools and the local community and working hours will depend on the hours of the school.
