The purpose of our HR function is to be an agile, connected and accountable partner to the business, enabling growth and performance. Our Global HR Centre’s of Excellence (CoE) sit right at the heart of driving this growth focusing on three distinctive areas to add real value to the business: Organisation Effectiveness, Talent Strategy & Planning, Reward and Transformation.

The Organisational Effectiveness (OE) Centre of Excellence sets our global organisational standards, leads the annual HR planning process, partners with our organisation and leadership teams to develop their organisational plans. It leads on HR Analytics and Reporting to guide better decision making.

Our Job Catalogue (or job architecture) is the ‘infrastructure’ of jobs within Diageo. It is the structure through which we classify all our jobs and group roles with similar capabilities and skills together. This provides the foundation on which multiple HR processes then operate; such as compensation and reward, career pathing, recruitment, succession planning, workforce planning and learning and development. It provides a consistent framework and language that we then use to understand the organisation and is the backbone of Workday (our global HR system).          

As a Workday Improvement Lead you will be overseeing a full review of our Global Job Catalogue, coordination of Job Catalogue updates & Job Description development and ongoing governance and management of these areas beyond that. This role is key to enabling our HR transformation programme has an updated Job Catalogue which will enable us to deliver a more efficient and integrated HR system - improving the efficiency and effectiveness of core people processes.

Purpose of Role… 

As part of a global team, the scope of the role and relationships has real variety. In this role you’ll have to manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across our organisation; to shape updates to the Job Catalogue and create new Job Descriptions and then guide with a thorough process to shape these new structures. You’ll get the opportunity to network across all of our HR CoE’s, the Governance team, and the Workday Technology CoE.

As our Workday Improvement Lead, we’d like for you to…

  • Deliver a full review of our Job Catalogue structure
  • Ensuring development of Job Descriptions aligned to revised Job Catalogue Structure 
  • Ensure coordination of all Job Catalogue updates
  • Define ongoing Job Catalogue governance and manage the process

Accountabilities 

  • Deliver full review of Job Catalogue structure
    • Partner with HR and business leaders to define and drive the job architecture strategy; drawing on industry trends and leading practices as appropriate
    • Analyse data from multiple sources and systems to support job architecture optimization efforts
    • Facilitate job catalogue review sessions with business leaders / SMEs to develop a revised job architecture aligned to our business priorities, competencies, HR transformation objectives etc.
    • Consolidate and summarise inputs from SMEs, functional leaders and HRBPs
    • Translate business requirements into specific Job Catalogue design choices that will work with Workday and other related systems
    • Drive the review forward – remove barriers, maintain pace and focus
  • Ensuring development of Job Descriptions aligned to revised Job Catalogue Structure 
    • Mange project to establish generic job descriptions for each relevant group of Job Profiles (providing consistency)
    • Ensure job descriptions follow standard format/approach and are explicitly linked to our capability, leadership and grading frameworks
    • Coordinate process for job description translations as required
  • Coordination of Job Catalogue updates
    • Partner with HR Governance SMEs and Workday Tech CoE to modify the existing job architecture and processes as required (in Workday and related systems)
    • Ensure that relevant SMEs complete all relevant analysis on all areas impacted by Job Catalogue updates such as Workday eligibility rules (esp. compensation related), succession pools, mapping tables in systems, mass load templates etc.
    • Lead process to re-map positions to the Job Catalogue following significant updates – drive comms with HR teams and liaise with HR Governance and HRIS teams to ensure seamless execution of mass loads 
  • Define ongoing Job Catalogue governance and manage that process
    • Make governance recommendations to ensure robust change management and maintenance of the job architecture and role descriptions
    • Oversight of any Job Catalogue related Change Requests received from the business
    • Develop, review and update relevant Job Catalogue documentation

What are we looking for?

  • Prior experience of Workday system deployment/management would be advantageous– requirements gathering and programme management
  • Sound understanding of HR; Reward and Talent Management programs and processes e.g. job definition, role grading, recruiting, training and development, workforce planning
  • Strong Excel skills – ability to manage and analyse large, complex datasets
  • Demonstrates curiosity and thought leadership to challenge and incorporate best practice
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management with the ability to help with telling the story of our transformation
  • Strong communication and engagement skills - fluent English (verbal and written)
