Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the edge of the City, to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in the tech, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, some of the capital's best schools, and first class transport connections, which combined with excellent local public services and a thriving arts, cultural and retail sector, are fast making it one of London's most popular areas to live, work and visit. Our challenge is to make sure that our borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and to create opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.

Hackney is looking for an enthusiastic, creative communications professional to take on a key role in its award-winning Communications and Consultation team.

Reporting formally to the Strategic Communications Manager, but also taking direction from the Strategic Communications Advisors, this post will lead on communications strategy and delivery for allocated Council portfolio areas and projects.

The successful candidate will have first class writing skills and significant understanding of media management, social media, stakeholder engagement and delivering high profile campaigns.

Experience of working in local government communications is preferable, but not essential.

Effective, joined-up working with other colleagues within the Communications, Culture and Engagement Service, particularly regards online, internal communications and design, will be essential.

Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification.

It is essential that you include a supporting statement, addressing how your skills, knowledge and experience meet all aspects of the post, as indicated in the job description and person specification.
