Project Support Officer, Open to flexible working
1 year fixed term / secondment opportunity
Hackney Council is committed to improving air quality, reducing CO2 and promoting sustainable transport, in order to make the lives of our residents healthier and happier.
By prioritising sustainable modes of transportation such as walking, cycling, car sharing clubs, public transport above using a private car use, we aim to encourage motorists to reconsider whether they need to drive, without making it unaffordable for those that do. This approach is better for the environment, as it reduces local pollution and CO2 emissions, and supports our goal of making our streets more liveable for pedestrians.
In order to help us drive this agenda forward, Hackney Council Parking and Markets Service is looking for an enthusiastic individual to take on the exciting and rewarding role of Project Support Officer.
You will support a number of projects that will lead the way in discovering new parking and markets initiatives and policies. No two days will be the same - you may lead on developing proposals to improve access for blue badge holders, research and benchmark for the upcoming review of the five-year Parking and Enforcement Plan 2020-25, help to prepare consultation packs with the communications team, organise feedback sessions within the community.
We are looking for an individual who possesses excellent customer service and negotiation skills to be able to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders including senior management and diverse communities. You will also use your own initiative to problem solve and manage conflicting priorities, in a changing environment to meet set deadlines.
We need someone who is well organised, can coordinate and plan own workload, work independently and within the team. This is an excellent development opportunity for an individual who has some experience in managing projects and is ready to take the next step in their career.
Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.
For an informal discussion about the role, please call Gossica Anichebe, Project Officer on 020 8356 3213.

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.
