Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply.

What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come. We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

We are building a Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) driven organisation at Ofgem, with the capability to showcase and shape DDaT best practice in the energy sector. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will work within a team of specialists and engineers to build, administer, support and maintain solutions.  Your role focuses on ensuring that services are integrated, delivered and operated as required, liaising closely with third party suppliers and technical architects to translate designs into operations. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to overall management, taking an overview of workforce, budget, technology, roadmaps, projects and tasks.

Experience of building, configuring and supporting IT infrastructure hardware and software is essential. Proven experience of automation and scripting tools such as Powershell/PowerCLI is essential, particularly within the Microsoft 365 and Active Directory platforms.  You must have a proven track record of supporting Microsoft Technologies in a 2nd/3rd line capacity (particularly Windows Server 2012/2016), with knowledge of DNS, DNCP and TCP/IP. The ability to follow best practices, and detect and resolve issues, is also important, ideally with some experience of producing design documents and completing technical implementation.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
