We are building a Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) driven organisation at Ofgem, with the capability to showcase and shape DDaT best practice in the energy sector. By embedding these tools in all of our work we can ensure that our work is evidence and insight driven and that we can deliver the highest quality of outcome for energy consumers, while ensuring excellent value for money. This is a new role in our Glasgow team that can play an involved role in supporting our migration to cloud based systems.
You’ll be part of a wider team of infrastructure specialists and engineers who are dedicated to supporting and maintaining our infrastructure solutions and services. You’ll bring a proactive approach to technical problems – identifying and recording the most appropriate resolution and ensuring these are recorded in well maintained technical documentation. Throughout you’ll be attentive to customer service and regular communication to users
You should have a detailed knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies that includes computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS and open source packages and solutions. Exposure to virtual and cloud computing, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS would be beneficial. Knowledge of DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP along with software deployment and Patching will also be key. A thorough understanding of information security and familiarity with the principles of modern standards approach will also be key. You should be someone who enjoys collaborating with others to work around problems, and be ready to take ownership and accountability of issues all the way through to resolution.
