What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come. We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

Our Corporate Services function is central to the effectiveness of the organisation as a whole – offering professional support and expertise that adds value. Right now, we are in the process of transforming how we work, to create a more integrated function, designed around customer need, that can deliver more efficiently. In this Private Secretary & Business Manager role, you’ll offer high level support to the Director of Corporate Services and act as a key interface between them and their teams, the wider organisation and the external environment. It’s a highly involved role that comes with real responsibility. You’ll ensure that change programmes remain on track and on budget, questioning as required, and taking ownership of the central risk log. Managing the information flow between the Director and the organisation, your contribution will be vital in maximising the Director’s capacity and impact. It’s a role that will suit someone who thrives on fast-paced, highly-varied work and who can build positive relationships at all levels.

Highly developed interpersonal skills will be vital. You should already have significant experience of fostering positive working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent organisational skills will be equally important – you’ll play a key part in prioritising issues and supporting the Director in managing their portfolio of work. Able to deliver at pace to meet changing priorities, you’ll ensure that the detail is right while applying a lateral perspective, so that you retain a focus on the bigger picture. You should also have experience in managing budgets and risks in the context of programme management.
