Technical Operations Manager - 12 Months FTC, Open to flexible working

Are you looking for an exciting contract opportunity with a leading pharmaceutical company? We are currently recruiting for a Technical Site Operations Manager to support the delivery of World Class facilities that are safe, legal and compliant and to take responsibility of the delivery of hard services maintenance and technical infrastructure investment.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract role.

This site operations role will provide ongoing engineering support to WREF Operations across Ware, Harlow, Addenbrookes, and Stevenage and will be based at the GSK Stevenage with travel to other sites, responsible for Facilities Services and Capital Projects programme management. This will include the development and improvement of processes that support the operational delivery model and interfaces with other GSK functions, service partners and other 3rd party providers.

As a Technical Site Operations Manager you will be responsible for reviewing compliance with UK environmental legislation and GSKs Internal Standards for environmental protection for operations within WREFs control and to develop action plans where there are gaps. The incumbent will be asked to support activities associated with mechanical and electrical compliance, based on competency and skill-set, as priorities dictate.

  • Ensure that adverse events related to potential environmental impacts to air, water or ground are investigated, which, where appropriate dispute resolution and process improvement
  • Ensure that Root Cause Analysis is performed when contract requirements or compliance with GSK standards and national legislation associated with mechanical services are not met
  • Escalate issues where resolution cannot be achieved at site level with available resources. Use formal escalation routes such as RMS and EHS central 
  • Deliver technical input to capital projects as defined by WREF standard procedures - for mechanical infrastructure projects or business projects with significant mechanical infrastructure changes
  • Maintain ethics and compliance values even when potential risk exists.
  • Execute remediation plans from policy and standards gap assessments. Escalate risks and/or conflicts with local customer's ways of working.
  • Deploy compliance processes locally and identify/escalate operational risks to governance teams.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Proven record of management of Environmental or engineering services within complex facilities
  • A building services or mechanical engineering background preferable but not essential
  • Displays knowledge of the Research & Development process and understands GxP requirements
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with key external contract partners, to deliver appropriate site hard services in agreement with established contracts
  • Thorough understanding of statutory legislation responsibilities in a technically complex environment
  • Acts as a role model for applying standards to ensure compliance
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Minimum Level of Education: The job holder should be qualified to degree level and be able to demonstrate extensive competence in the operational engineering field. Chartered Engineer status in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred level of education.
