Your opportunity

Discover, investigate, influence. Our sharp, analytical minds are relied upon to ensure that Deloitte operates safely in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Are you up to the challenge?

We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you with some flexibility, please do discuss with us.

Your role

The Analyst in this role will work within Quality & Risk Operations in Cardiff. This centre of excellence is a division of the firm’s Quality & Risk management function responsible for a variety of quality, risk, regulatory and compliance support activities. Concentrating the efforts in a centre of excellence helps to ensure a high standard of compliance with the underlying regulations while enabling client-facing teams to devote more of their time to providing services to their clients.

A vacancy has arisen for a dynamic and flexible individual to help meet the increasingly high demands placed on this busy, exciting and innovative team. Customer Due Diligence (CDD) is a key part of Deloitte’s client acceptance and continuance processes; it ensures the firm is compliant with both legislation (including anti-money laundering) and firm policies. The Analyst will work within Quality, Risk and Security team in Cardiff performing data validation on CDD information held on existing clients, typically using IT based research tools and analysing the associated risks on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct extensive background checks on existing clients, across multiple jurisdictions, typically using IT-based research tools
  • Analysing client information and assessing the associated risks on a case-by-case basis
  • Contribute to an important regulatory project supporting risk management and compliance within the UK
  • Undertake the process of reviewing and refreshing information held on existing clients in line with regulatory requirements
  • Proactively manage own case-load with the support of Project Leads
  • Liaise extensively with internal clients
  • Provide Partners with the information needed to form client acceptance decisions
  • Use in-house “take-on” system to compile client acceptance information
  • Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • The role of a Risk & Compliance Analyst is exceptionally diverse, and presents significant learning opportunities in a dynamic, and continuously evolving regulated environment.

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

Location: Cardiff

Work pattern:

This is a fixed-term contract opportunity for a period of 9 months.
The role can be worked on a full-time basis.
Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we’ll try to accommodate.

Your professional experience

Our analysts come from a wide range of backgrounds, sometimes with little or no prior experience of financial services. What connects us is our enquiring minds and our ability to deliver a great service. We are looking for:

  • Excellent research and analysis skills combined with good judgement and effective decision-making capability
  • Skilled communicators with strong interpersonal abilities at all levels
  • Enthusiastic team players that can also be relied upon to solve problems on their own
  • Flexible-multi-tasking; this is a dynamic role requiring the ability to work to tight deadlines with competing priorities
  • Discretion; you will be required to sign an enhanced confidentiality agreement and will be subject to certain investment restrictions
  • A high level of IT user competence

Your service line: Quality, Risk and Security

The Quality, Risk and Security (QRS) community is an overarching identity for all of the professionals who manage quality and risk for Deloitte. It comprises: Deloitte Business Security (DBS), National Quality and Risk Management (NQRM), Quality & Risk Operations (QR Ops), and Service Line Quality and Risk Management teams (including Switzerland), and is led by a dedicated partner who sits on the firm’s Executive. Within QRS, we use our skills and experience across a variety of disciplines to support a risk intelligent culture at Deloitte; enabling our partners and practitioners to deliver high quality services to their clients, minimising the administrative burden on our people, and acting as custodians of firm risk, security, ethics and reputation.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
