Please note - this role is an 18-month fixed term contract.

Our HR function provides value to the organisation by working in partnership with the business to ensure that appropriate HR strategies are devised, planned, and implemented. As Senior HR officer you will be performing an important, broad generalist HR role, working closely with the HR Support and Advice manager to drive forward the business engagement strategy. As a senior within our team, you will assist with the smooth running of our team and proactively promote the services the team can offer to our customers and stakeholders. You will also deputise in our Managers absence including monitoring resource levels and work allocation across the team.

This role requires an in-depth knowledge of HR practices and process including UK employment law and how this is practically applied, advising on company policies (including absence, disciplinary and grievance) and ensuring these are applied appropriately. The Senior HR Officer will often take the lead on more complex employee cases and will provide technically sound, commercial advice to managers on disciplinary, absence and grievance cases, drawing on their solid, up to date understanding of current legislation.

As Senior HR Officer role you will lead and support project work within the function. Additionally, you will take a lead when necessary on continuous development of all related processes. You will take a proactive approach to leading and delivering manager training across all sites; actively tracking business uptake and reviewing content and feedback to ensure training is fit for purpose including identifying trends and issues, recognising and offering solutions.

Our ideal candidate will be adaptable, pragmatic in managing realistic timeframes for BAU and project delivery and is highly planned. In addition, you will manage several internal and external relationships (outplacement, occupational health, Xpert HR etc) so strong interpersonal skills are essential.

You will be delivery focused, have a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within the business and can demonstrate a background in delivery of HR change. Your approach will be consultative through coaching and questioning stakeholders to support them in considering a risk-based approach to advising on solutions.
