It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry as we continue to embark on a major transformation programme. HMLR's ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data. You will join our award-winning Digital, Data and Technology Directorate which is the in-house IT division at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

We are now looking for Assurance Officers (one role within Risk Management and two within IT Audit and Compliance) to join our Digital, Data and Technology team to help us to achieve this.

Due to Covid-19, the role will initially be home based so an induction and training will be carried out remotely, with full support from the team. Once safe to do so, your home office will be located in the vibrant waterfront city of Plymouth.

Job description

As an Assurance Officer, you will provide specialist assistance and guidance in the creation of policy, process and practices while ensuring that appropriate governance processes are maintained. You will also provide assurance to the Senior IT Assurance Manager on suitability and effectiveness of quality assurance policies and practices throughout current and developing IT services.

Part of the role will be to undertake audits to drive appropriate corrective and preventative actions; and provide specialist assistance and constructive challenge to people and projects in relation to compliance.


To meet the requirement of these roles, you will have industry experience in either Risk Management or IT audit and compliance along with a proven track record of providing assurance to help enable successful accreditation to international standards. You will also have proven experience in working to complete compliance and audit schedules within an IT or digital organisation.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to understand, interpret and make sense of complex information is essential. In addition you will have proven communication skills and are able to demonstrate your influencing and good people management skills.

The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate is the in-house IT division for HMLR. We are currently recruiting several roles to ensure the directorate’s teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take our major transformation programme forward.
