Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply.

E-Serve is our delivery arm, and manages a number of high profile environmental programmes that support our commitment to creating a net zero energy supply. Our flexible working career opportunities are incredibly varied, so we are committed to recruiting talented people from a diverse range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

We now have a number of opportunities for experienced Developers to join our teams in London and Glasgow. Operating in an Agile environment, you’ll collaborate with project managers, technical leads and subject matter experts to develop, maintain and support the applications that support Ofgem’s social and economic energy schemes. It’s an opportunity to work with a range of different technologies in an environment where you are encouraged to be creative (while following agreed working/coding standards) and where you’ll have plenty of scope to develop your professional knowledge and skills.

You should already have experience of working in collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues and you’ll need to offer expertise across a number of different technologies, including:

  • Microsoft .NET (C#)
  • SQL Server Development
  • ASP.Net MVC
  • Writing unit and integration tests
  • Continuous Integration, build and deployment automation
  • API development

As well as being accustomed to working in an Agile manner, you should also be familiar with at least some of the following: object-oriented design; SOLID development techniques and design patterns; relational database design, SQL Stored procedures; Unit Test Frameworks and Tools; Version Control tools and workflows (GIT); and CI/CD pipelines within Azure Devops.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym
  •  Interest free season ticket loan
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Perkbox (staff discount scheme)
  • Employee Wellbeing Programme.

Closing date: 11.55pm on Monday 2nd November 2020.
