Occupational Health Manager - Open to 4 days/wk

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health Manager to provide support and advice to the Health and Safety Director, also the health and safety managers of Tideway in Occupational Health, Occupational hygiene, wellbeing and ill health prevention across Tideway.

Responsibilities will include:

Contractor management

  • To act as the Service Level Manager for the Occupational Health Service Provider for Tideway activities.
  •  Be  the technical author to the Works Information related to Occupational Heath.


  • Develop the Tideway Occupational Health strategy which supports and compliments the Alliance Occupational Health Strategy.
  • Implement the Occupational Health Strategy using the four W principles of Worker, Workplace, Well-being and Wider community.
  • Undertake Health Risk Assessments for all Tideway office locations.
  • Develop initiatives and campaigns that educate and engage with Tideway, PMC and MWCs staff that meet Tideway aspirations.  Some of these items will be in collaboration with the MWCs.
  • Develop and implementation of an Occupational Health Standard that is adopted by industry as the best and minimum standard, leaving an initial legacy for Tideway.
  • Develop and deliver a health risk maturity matrix, in collaboration with the MWCs.

Programme delivery

  • Co-ordinate and administer the health forum, contractors and designers health forums and other health related meetings and forums.
  • Attend the GB Health Week and other external health forums to promote and gain occupational health knowledge and guidance.
  • Assist in incident investigations for Tideway and review incident reports from MWCs where occupational health is a factor.

General duties

Outline of some of the activities the role could undertake, but not limited to:

  • Support Occupational Health matter in relation to employees of Tideway and the PMC, for example:
  • DSE Assessments, Working with our HR team to review pre-placement questionnaires and develop the health and well-being programme.
  • Develop and deliver the specific Occupational health awareness and health risk management training.
  • Engage, develop and implement with the OHSP the stress management programme.
  • Undertake Assurance activities.
  • Undertake monthly reporting activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and the supply chain on occupational health matters and to encourage health-related design interventions.

  • Experience of and proven ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Health and Safety, Quality and/or Environmental experience
  • Verbal and Written communication skills
  • Intermediate in MS Office Suite
  • Software, application, significant IT solution knowledge
  • Experience of audits, inspections and management systems
  • Qualified Auditor
  • Team/Contractor management experience.
  • Ability to integrate budgeting with management techniques
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in complex situations;
  • Ability to sensitively liaise with stakeholders and project team members
  • Knowledgeable in Occupational Health and the ability to research details in all areas, which gain the best from a Multi-Supplier programme

Education and qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial or construction occupational health management 
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Occupational health hygienist or clinical nurse.
