Birth Companions is a charity which supports mothers experiencing severe disadvantage during pregnancy, birth and early parenting to overcome the inequalities they face and fulfil their potential.  As a result of funding from the Big Lottery Funds Women and Girls Initiative, we will deliver an ambitious three-year project to develop the role of service users in the design and delivery of our services and to extend our reach to support more women for greater periods of time.

The Community Group Coordinator will establish a new community group for pregnant women and mothers with young children in London. The group will be a safe and enabling space for women to meet with their peers and to access support. The Coordinator will develop a programme of activities; liaise with other staff members and external agencies to refer women to the group; and work to refer and signpost women to other services.  The Coordinator will also work closely with volunteers and peer supporters who will provide additional support within the group.

Only female applicants will be considered. This role is exempt from the sexual discrimination act 1975 as the post requires working closely with women.
