About the job Summary
This role will be pivotal to the successful operation of the Finance and Business Services (FaBS) Directorate. This is a high-profile role, presenting an excellent opportunity for you to be instrumental in shaping and influencing the directorate in the short, medium and longer-term. You will help develop and maintain collaboration across the professional disciplines to support the delivery of the FaBS business plan and maximise its contribution to the rest of the organisation.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will make sure that the Directorate has the right structures, planning, performance tools, communications, and staff development programmes in place to ensure that it is delivering a high-quality service driven by the principles of continual improvement and to support HMLR’s wider transformation.
You will maintain oversight, strengthen and lead the processes needed to effectively run a directorate of around 140 people working across a wide variety of professions including Finance, Commercial, Facilities and Property Asset Management, Business Planning and Performance, Analysis and Internal Audit, ensuring all activities are in line with HMLR’s Business Strategy, cultural aspirations and supports the drive for efficiencies.
The role will lead on our approach to governance, risk management, business planning and performance, strategic workforce planning, learning and development and talent management, overseeing each discipline within FaBS and aligning their activities to be as efficient as possible.
The role has a particular focus on developing and implementing an end-to-end programme of activities to support development and continuous improvement of a strong, vibrant and inclusive working culture across FaBS. You will establish a comprehensive and value-adding approach to directorate performance, including identifying relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and measuring performance against them.
You will have experience of working within a similar sized, complex organisation in a fast-paced delivery role. You will easily be able to evidence your experience of reviewing service delivery, processes and structures and leading transformational change activity of a similar scope.
You will be confident providing robust challenge and advice to senior managers and have the ability to see, scan and scope the needs for the team and be a team player in order to deliver.
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to plan, organise and work well under pressure managing conflicting demands effectively.
You will have demonstrable experience of effectively representing organisations at a senior level in a highly professional and competent manner, able to conduct strong negotiations and influence to achieve outcomes and demonstrate confidence to make independent decisions in a fast-paced delivery environment.
You will be diplomatic in all forms of communication and able to build relationships with key stakeholders and peers, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels.
You have great people leadership skills and the confidence to lead a wider team beyond your immediate line management.
