What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come. We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

This is an ideal role for someone who wants to pursue a career as a Software Developer. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of code used to design, build and support a variety of web-based applications and it’s an ideal setting in which to develop your skills and build your experience across core technologies. You’ll investigate and resolve issues presented by our customers – completing a variety of SQL scripts, testing your solution and then deploying it to the live environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside the Development team and learn about our legacy applications through to Azure Cloud, and you’ll have access to excellent formal and on-the-job training.

We are looking for someone who understands database concepts and already has some experience of SQL Server, T-SQL, .Net, and C#; who has an understanding of debugging and can apply a methodical approach to working through problems. It’s important that you are well-organised and can co-ordinate and prioritise your work with a keen eye for detail. You should be able to work well with colleagues across the organisation, taking a proactive approach to communication to ensure all users are up-to-date with progress and that their needs are fully understood.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies

  •  Employee Wellbeing Programme.

Closing date: Monday 30th November 2020 at 11.55pm.
