Do you want to help tackle the nature and climate crises in Wales?

Our client has a vision of land and seas rich in wildlife and people close to nature. They believe that nature is valuable in its own right and that everyone should have the chance to experience the joy of wildlife and feel a part of nature and understand that they are wholly dependent upon it.

Yet, they are in the middle of a climate and nature emergency, and the two are inextricably linked. Climate change is driving nature's decline, and the loss of wildlife and wild places is eroding their ability to reduce their emissions and adapt to change. One cannot be solved without the other.

Their vision for climate change action in Wales is a climate- and conservation-conscious Wales, where empowered young people drive changing behaviours. They want to educate and empower thousands of young people to make small changes in their lives, resulting in a significant effect on their carbon footprints and those of their communities. They believe the catalyst for change is within the grasp of young people, through increasing both their understanding of the environment's ability to store greenhouse gases and their ability to use and promote nature-based solutions to protect humanity and the natural world alike. They are therefore delighted to have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund's Climate Action Fund to help drive this change through on the ground action and engaging campaigns.

The Campaigns Officer will use an evidence-based approach and work with young people to develop communications and campaigns which encourage positive behaviour changes and promote the engagement of young people with the decision-making across Wales.

You will be experienced in developing and delivering campaigns to drive behaviour change and have a facilitative and inclusive approach to your work. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent relationship management skills with a wide range of audiences, both internally and externally. Using your experience and creative and analytical skills, you will develop communications approaches and empower young people to find their voices and be heard. You will be highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Most of all you will be a great listener, be passionate and want to make a difference.

As part of the Climate Change Cymru team across Wales you will need to have excellent collaboration and facilitation skills and always strive to bring people together to achieve shared goals.

Our client wants their people to be as diverse as nature, so they particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within their sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities. They are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities.

As a Disability Confident employer, they are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjustments to make the recruitment process more accessible.
