We are now looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Support Technician to join our Digital, Data and Technology team to help us to achieve this.

You will join our award-winning Digital, Data and Technology Directorate which is the in-house IT division at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

You will be part of the IT Operations Practice which is responsible for the performance and delivery of all technical infrastructure which underpins and supports the organisation. HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales. .

Job description

This role sits within End User Technical Services team supporting the end users’ devices and supporting infrastructure, including 2nd and 3rd line support for systems/solutions/applications and desktops within the distributed IT infrastructure.

As a Senior Infrastructure Support Technician you will provide technical support for maintenance of IT Infrastructure and platforms, as part of the wider infrastructure community. You will provide advice and guidance to ensure services are developed in a supportable design on projects and programmes, whilst sharing your knowledge and experience with others, in line with the continuous improvement agenda and to help build capability within the IT Operations Practice.

You will be pro-active in supporting live services, and also take the responsibility for resolution of live incidents or escalation as appropriate. You will also lead and contribute to technical, commercial and contractual negotiations and liaise with other stakeholders and ensure a customer focused approach to service management in accordance with ITIL principles.


To meet the requirements of this role, you will have proven practical experience in high-level planning and managing technical change and of working practices and processes within IT Service Delivery. You will also have in an in depth knowledge; proven expertise and practical experience of at least three of the following areas:

  • Windows desktop environment
  • Windows deployment techniques
  • Patch management and application packaging
  • Distributed Infrastructure, Servers, Printers, Distributed Applications, Data Management
  • Web Infrastructure; Internet Information Services, Intranet, Web Applications, SharePoint

Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact and build working relations with engineers and other stakeholders is essential.

Due to Covid-19, the role will initially be home based so an induction and training will be carried out remotely, with full support from the team. Once safe to do so, your home office will be located in the vibrant waterfront city of Plymouth.

The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate is the in-house IT division for HMLR. We are currently recruiting several roles to ensure the directorate’s teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take our major transformation programme forward.   • Holds a qualification in Information Technology or a related area (Degree Level or equivalent) or experience in an IT field.
