The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) was established in May 2011. It brings together Network Rail and passenger and freight train operating companies to lead and enable improvements in the railway. The purpose of the RDG is to enable Network Rail and passenger and freight train operating companies to succeed by delivering better services for their customers. Ultimately this benefits taxpayers and the economy. Services provided by us include revenue settlement, impartial retailing, the National Rail Enquiries service and Railcard marketing, as well as leading the industry to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The Operations and Engineering team is seeking an energetic hardworking person to provide wide-ranging administrative support to a busy team that supports our Train Company members in running a punctual, reliable, safe and economic railway.

We are looking for both a part time person (3 or 4 days per week) and also a full time person.

The post holder needs to be:

  • Exceptionally well organised with the ability to self-manage and prioritise;
  • Possess a flexible attitude and the ability to multi-task;
  • Possess excellent communication skills, particularly written (proven ability to write formal minutes and reports will be highly regarded);
  • Proficient in the use of word, PowerPoint and Outlook and a working knowledge of Excel.

Principal activities will include:

  • Providing support to the team, including organisation of meetings, the preparation and issuing of agendas and associated papers, taking and issuing of notes, following up actions as required; organising conference calls and working groups, organisation of training courses and conferences.
  • Providing varied administrative support to all Operations, Engineering and Major Projects team members in their activities in the scheme.
  • Maintaining trackers for industry consultations and conferences.
