Financial Controller - Part-time

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-achieving, qualified accountant with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with an understanding of financial services, fintech or cybersecurity start-ups, to join a rapidly expanding team of passionate experts. The role would suit an individual who thrives on meeting new challenges, on making a tangible contribution to an evolving business and growing a vital department. 

The Financial Controller will be involved in all aspects of accounting, financial administration and commercial appraisal to support the business goals. You will help sustain customer confidence and protect operations by being responsible for the integrity of the accounts and maintaining robust internal controls and confidentiality and ensuring compliance at all times. 

Main duties will include: 

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Ownership of annual budgeting and monthly forecasting and analysis
  • Appraisal of commercial agreements
  • Development and oversight of financial accounting systems for accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and bank reconciliation
  • Preparation of statutory returns including: VAT, Enterprise Investment Scheme, Enterprise Management Incentive scheme
  • Collation of Key Performance Indicators
  • Co-ordination and management of relationship with external payroll and benefits providers
  • Maintenance of the company’s asset register
  • Maintenance of company’s Intellectual Property register
  • Working with CEO to prepare for and facilitate external audit
  • Providing input into business plan revisions
  • Support for financial due diligence related to fundraising and / or acquisitions
  • Input into the company’s product roadmap for financial and accounting products 

About you: 

  • Degree qualification
  • ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified, with demonstrable post-qualification experience
  • Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in advanced MS Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written
  • Committed team player who is able to work effectively, to tight deadlines
  • At ease in a rapidly-growing company 
  • Prior experience of systems and controls reviews would be desirable
