This role is focused on leading key projects and/or work streams teams to help clients achieve their commercial objectives, either through a transformation or up skilling of commercial functions or through more hand-on support to specific programmes, helping clients to drive greater commercial value. The team focuses on working with Government and large infrastructure organisations. 

Our clients face challenges covering multiple ‘operational’ perspectives –redesigning their organisation structure and capabilities to improve performance; redesigning key customer facing processes; rethinking how best to procure and manage services for third parties.

Our managers have a strong track record in leading teams and working collaboratively to deliver outstanding results for our clients.  The role will involve supporting our directors and senior managers during the development of proposals and by taking accountability for delivering customer transformation projects / work streams for clients.  Our Operations projects are rarely standalone and the successful candidate will need to work with capabilities and solutions drawn from across broader KPMG. 

Role Overview

  • Plays a key role in bidding, winning and delivering operational transformation engagements of significant size and scope
  • Providing commercial and procurement advice, supporting clients through complex sourcing projects
  • Supports relevant operations leadership team together with Consulting Industry Leaders (or their delegates) to build and action Go-To-Market plans within their industry, focussed on target clients.
  • Develops relationships to identify and shape future solutions and engagements - working internally (with operations leadership, Consulting Industry Leaders, Client Lead Partners, Business Development Managers, other parts of KPMG) and externally (partners, allies).
  • Ensures that operations transformation projects or their work streams within a large engagement are effectively scoped managed and delivered on time, to budget and within agreed (KPMG) risk frameworks.
  • Provide leadership within the Operations team, coaching and developing team members and running non-client initiatives, such as training or rick management,

Experience and Background

  • We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic to join a dynamic and fast growing part of our business, and who will play a key role in delivering customer service transformation projects in the UK
  • From a ‘big-four’ management consultancy practice (or equivalent strategy house) or alternatively has relevant industry experience.
  • Has 5+ years’ experience of winning and leading operational service transformation / operational support process redesign projects of significant size and scope for leading clients
  • Comes with experience of working in government, transport or infrastructure sectors. Experience in other sectors, such as financial services, retail, telco and power & utilities would also be beneficial.
  • Demonstrable effectiveness in tackling complex assignments, balancing competing priorities and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Personal networks across the Government & Infrastructure sectors would be advantageous, as well as experience in creating new business development opportunities within the market.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience of service transformation.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience would be beneficial
  • Has led projects and/or work streams within large projects that involve combining target operating model design and  business change capabilities
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Ability to rapidly identify issues and propose solutions.
