As part of the continued growth of the Pension Advisory business, EY is looking hire a senior individual from a leading consultancy firm or life insurer. The role will be to lead and develop sales from providing pension insurance and consolidation solutions to trustee and corporate clients.

EY is already a leader in the insurance advisory market and has a strong pension advisory team but wishes to recruit a leader in the pension insurance space to fully capitalise on the market opportunity. The successful candidate will already be seen as a leader in the UK pension insurance field and have a high level of trustee credibility and market awareness. Areas of focus will include:

  • Advice in connection with insurance buy-in, buy-out and longevity transactions
  • Advice on pricing, collateral, counterparties and insurer solvency levels
  • Guidance on the selection of insurers to meet trustees risk objectives
  • Advice on funding and risk implications of insurance transactions
  • Advice on IFRS balance sheet and P&L impacts of insurance transactions
  • Research and analysis of UK insurance company solutions and operating model
  • Readiness of portfolios to transition to an insurance vehicle
  • Research of and guidance on the development of the consolidator market
  • Presentation at industry seminars and writing thought leadership including surveys

The individual will play a key role in designing and executing EY’s strategy for the Pension Insurance and Consolidation sector with a significant focus on growing revenue, solution build, brand leverage and stakeholder relationship management.

Our internal network of industry sectors such as Insurance, Life & Pensions and Banking & Capital Markets, combined with a number of service lines, creates a rich network off which to leverage meaningful interactions, and the successful candidate will be expected to support, interact and grow this network.

  • We would expect the candidate to have built businesses in the past and have the requisite business development and delivery competency to penetrate the market and leverage the opportunity.
  • It will be essential that the candidate has the following experience:
  • Strong and relevant experience within the UK specialising in the bulk annuity and longevity environment with a background at a leading consulting firm or insurance company
  • Excellent understating of the UK pensions market and seen visibly by trustees as a leader in the bulk annuity market, having sold and implemented a variety of insurance solutions for UK pension funds
  • Ability to engage internally at Leadership level and externally at Board level, and build meaningful relationships through developing rapport, influencing and being impactful.
  • Build, lead and motivate teams and individuals.

The individual will hold and FIA or FFA qualification.
