This is a great opportunity for an experienced cyber security professional to play a central role in ensuring the security of Ofgem. You will take the lead in managing our response to security incidents - both in terms of the immediate threat and subsequent review and investigation. You’ll help to promote an organisational culture where there is a thorough understanding of potential threats and how to mitigate against these. This will include the co-ordination of preparedness exercises and offering expert advice to product and service owners. You will also ensure that the organisation deploys the tools and security systems that will enhance safety and resilience. These will include Firewalls, Windows AD event logs, syslog, anti-virus, endpoint, file integrity, and vulnerability scanners for security events, web gateway, TrendMicro deep discovery inspection, IDS, IPS etc.

You should offer proven experience in similar Security Operations Centre (SOC) role, and expertise in incident management, investigation and response. You should bring an up-to-date understanding of intrusion detection and analysis and a good all-round insight into information risk assessment and risk management. You should be able to demonstrate an informed appreciation of the particular threat environment faced by government and regulatory agencies and the associated information management risks for such organisations. And you should have practical experience with network security and networking technologies and working with system, security, and network monitoring tools.
