Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply.

What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come. We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

The energy sector is undergoing an unprecedented and far-reaching transformation to support the journey to a net-zero future, and Ofgem will play a central role in the transition to this goal. As a Net Zero Pathways Analyst you will advise on the opportunities and risks associated with different pathways to net zero, recognising that degrees of uncertainty and alternative approaches are an inevitable part of such a seismic change to a sector. Your analysis and recommendations will inform Ofgem’s thinking on regulatory policies, strategic priorities and key decisions relating to things like infrastructure investment. You’ll also offer advice to participants in the energy market on how to account for uncertainty Ii their planning and decision-making.

It’s a role that will suit a highly capable and proactive analyst – someone who collaborates and communicates well and who can work at pace. We expect that you will already have an understanding of the energy sector, and the requirements of the net zero transition, or that you have worked in a comparable sector. You’ll be confident in your ability to work on strategic concepts and to draw on a wide range of sources in arriving at conclusions and recommendations. You should be able to analyse quantitative and qualitative information, and make full use of technical, economic and modelling data in your work. It’s likely that you are educated to degree level in an analytical discipline, or that you can demonstrate equivalent expertise through practical, professional experience.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
