What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come. We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

This role will play a critical part in ensuring the security of Ofgem. Working as part of a small team of security engineers and Cyber Security analysts you’ll offer expert advice on security tools, infrastructure and capabilities. You’ll help to shape an ongoing monitoring strategy that will identify security needs and appropriate technical solutions to address potential vulnerabilities. And you will manage the monitoring, triaging, and investigation of security alerts on protective monitoring platforms to identify security incidents – manging the response, or escalating as required. It’s an opportunity to work in fast-paced and high profile setting: and a great career move.

We expect that you already have professional experience as a system security engineer or cyber security engineer, and that you have a detailed understanding of computer operating systems such as Windows Enterprise and Server. Your previous experience should include working with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools; and you should be familiar with Microsoft 365 compliance (Advanced eDiscovery) and Microsoft 365 Threat Protection.  You should offer an up-to-date awareness of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols, backed up with a commitment to keeping yourself apprised of new and emerging technologies and threats.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.
