MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Report to the MD and key management staff on strategic planning and operational delivery.
Work with and oversee the work of the Assistant Accountant.
Review company performance results and actively monitor cash flow.
Assist with personnel matters and review/authorise payroll
Negotiate/manage contracts for key overheads - utilities, healthcare, insurance etc.
Liaise with external parties - bank, foreign exchange providers, insurance broker, etc.
Assist with preparation of files for year-end audit and liaising with local external auditors.
Be present and support the MD during the review of annual figures
Strategic Development
Liaise with the MD and other key management personnel concerning business plans
Advise MD on financial matters affecting strategy and associated budgets
Prepare annual operating budget and 4 year forecasts that reflect the strategy
Present budgets to the MD
Actively review costs and work to reduce costs where opportunity exists.
Propose developments in systems and processes to support the company's growth.
Produce management reports to support business decisions
Train/educate staff as appropriate in areas that affect their roles, e.g. VAT compliance, and Sage system use.
Plan and deliver systems implementations as agreed within the business.
Working with Assistant Accountant
Maintain a close and supportive working relationship, supportive of key strengths and developing further skills.
Regularly overview key performance areas, such Credit Control and limits, foreign currency and cash flow management etc.
Periodically, review key control reconciliations to ensure compliance with accounting regulations/legislation.
Be aware of workflow and when necessary, provide cover during holidays/absence.
Review Company results and manage cash flow
Review monthly management accounts.
Be aware of trends within the business and investigate "out of the ordinary" results.
Present accounts to the MD and discuss position against budget and general business activity.
Monitor and manage cash flow, being aware of the future needs of the business.
Verify and authorise other payments from the Company, including BACS payments
Personnel and Payroll
Assist with internal personnel matters when requested, if appropriate.
Review payroll when prepared and authorise payment
