About the role 

Haringey Adult Learning Service (HALS) is seeking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic Associate Tutors to teach courses in the following areas: 

  • Functional Skills (Maths, English, ICT) 
  • Employability 
  • Wellbeing 
  • Arts therapy 
  • Book Keeping courses

Tutors are required to undertake teaching and related duties that fully support and encourage learners throughout their learning and to facilitate progression to further/ higher level courses, volunteering or employment. 

About you 

You will be an established professional with recent experience in delivering a top quality learning experience to adults with differentiated learning needs. You have a strong commitment to working with residents in disadvantaged areas to improve their life chances. You are confident in your ability to motivate adult learners and to provide necessary stretch and challenge to each individual as they progress on their learner journey. 

You are able to work proactively within a team, contribute to team meetings, peer observations and be prepared to share best teaching practice and resources, including E-Learning. Your own learning is important to you and you have a ‘growth mindset’: the service will expect you to continue to develop your teaching skills through CPD and to action the points identified at regular teaching observations. 

You will be willing to help develop the curriculum in your specialism to the benefit of all learners and the service and contribute to Self-Assessment processes. 

Tutors will need to ensure that their learners are well prepared for the exams they need to take at the end of their courses. 

All staff in the service are expected to work to meet national, local and OFSTED inspection requirements including Safeguarding and Prevent strategies. 

Applicants should hold a PGCE, DELTA, DTTLS or equivalent degree level qualification in teaching adults. 

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure check with the DBS will be undertaken.
