Senior Analyst, Open to flexible working

This role is part of our Retail Monitoring and Price Cap Implementation team which plays a central role in monitoring new developments and trends in the retail energy market, to evaluate possible impact and risks to consumers, and establish a sound evidence base for policy-making. As a Senior Analyst you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting on competition indicators and evaluating the impacts of policies and regulation on the market. You will also support on Ofgem’s flagship retail market policy, the price cap, ensuring it continues to deliver for consumers. Your analysis will inform the regular price cap reviews and you may also contribute to compliance cases, should a supplier be deemed to be in breach of the rules.
Analysis is core to our team, and we welcome applicants with a background in economics and / or strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. Programming or statistical based package skills, such as Python or SQL or STATA, would also be attributes of a strong candidate, and you should be proficient in working with Excel. Good communication skills (in person and in writing) are essential, including the ability to simplify complex subject matter for different audiences. And you should be a highly effective team worker – accustomed to working effectively with a range of stakeholders. It’s likely that you hold a degree in a subject with an analytical focus, or you will have developed equivalent expertise through practical experience in your career to date.
