Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come.

We now have a number of opportunities within our Electricity Distribution team. This is a great chance to be part of a dynamic and diverse team that thrives on people’s different contributions.

You will be joining us at an exciting time.  Your immediate focus will be on developing the next price control for the electricity distribution networks.  These networks are undergoing an unprecedented transformation as climate change targets for Net Zero carbon emissions will require the local grids to be rewired to support a rapid rollout of electric vehicles and heat pumps, as well as connecting more local forms of generation. It’s our job to support this transformation while keeping the cost to consumers as low as possible and this will involve unlocking the value of data and technology to drive more flexible and innovative use of the networks.

You can expect to be involved in extensive stakeholder engagement, working with colleagues, industry participants and government representatives to ensure that different perspectives and views (sometimes opposing) inform our approach. It’s a chance to play your part in supporting the decarbonisation of our energy supplies and to develop your knowledge of high profile regulation activity that can benefit everyone: now and in the future.

We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding. You don’t need to be an expert in energy to apply and it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

You should be comfortable working with both qualitative and qualitative data, using different sources of information to inform policy recommendations.  And you’ll be able to bring your findings to life for different audiences through excellent communication skills. You should be able to make connections across different subject matter, and collaborate well with others to ensure a consistent approach. You’ll be someone who takes pride in your work, enjoys taking the initiative and can organise your work well to ensure you can deliver great outcomes to agreed timelines.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.
