We are looking for an experienced data analyst to work with us on a freelance basis averaging around 2 days per week. The work will involve collecting, checking, organising and analysing data from a variety of sources and would suit someone from a strategy consultancy, market planning or accountancy background.
Legacy Foresight is a research and consultancy business, specialising in the charitable legacy and in-memory giving sectors. We work with over 100 well-known British charities providing benchmarking programmes, consortium research projects, forecasting and consultancy. Legacy Foresight is a ‘virtual’ company, without offices. The current team of 10 all work from home on a flexible basis, while communicating frequently through email, Skype and regular face to face meetings in central London.
We are looking for an analyst to support us on our benchmarking and research programmes. The work will involve collecting, checking, organising and analysing data from a variety of sources including:
- Performance data provided directly by charity clients
- Economic and social statistics
- Charity financial data from annual reports, websites and sector databases
- Research data from quantitative surveys
Although the main part of the role will be analytics, there will also be an element of report writing, commenting on the data collected.
It would suit someone from a strategy consultancy, market planning or accountancy background. They should have at least 5 years work experience in a professional commercial environment.
The role will be part time, flexible and home-based, averaging 2 days a week across the year. There will be busier periods when the person will be asked to work 2-3 days week and quieter times when it will be closer to 1 day a week – these will be planned in advance and negotiated around other commitments.
We will commit to paying a minimum of 1 day a week on an annual basis. (ie 45 days a year allowing for holidays). The person would be employed on a freelance basis.
The person should be based in easy reach of central London, in order to attend briefing and team meetings. It is assumed that they will use their own computer and phone, but we are willing to provide advice and financial support to acquire additional software/hardware as necessary.
As a small company, reliant on intellectual capital and strong team working, we want someone who wishes to stay in the business for a number of years (a minimum of 2) and be an integral part of the team. The business is growing fast, and there will be opportunities for the right person to take on more work/responsibility over time if desired.
- Ability to work under own steam without close supervision
- Strong analytical skills and some experience with modelling
- Advanced understanding and experience using Excel
- Methodical and persistent, with good attention to detail
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
- Confidence in using the internet to find information
- Familiarity with database software and systems (SPSS, SQL)
- Knowledge of online information sources
- Interest in the charity sector
We are aiming to shortlist candidates in October 2017, and conduct interviews in November/ December 2017, but these timings may get pushed back into early 2018 if workloads are heavy
We would like the candidate to start in early 2018 so they can be up to speed for the new Financial Year
We will pay £250 -£300 a day depending on experience (on a freelance basis)
