The Immunology Network is a novel and innovative way of working at GSK, designed to integrate the best of GSK and academic immunology to deliver breakthrough science and ultimately medicines for patients. Leading academic immunologists have been selected to work alongside GSK scientists and program teams at our world class Stevenage R&D hub, where together they carry out fundamental immunology research.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist with both practical and theoretical knowledge in immunology. This role is based at GSK in Stevenage, performing cutting edge research to develop targeted therapeutics that regulate macrophage function in the resolution of inflammation and maintenance of tissue homeostasis, in collaboration with Professor Toby Lawrence (Kings College London). This opportunity provides an unrivalled experience of both academic and industry settings, exposure to industry leading research and the opportunity to contribute to innovative R&D to help deliver the next wave of transformational medicines for patients.
This is a laboratory-based role and the successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a complex matrix environment and will be required to maintain accurate records and present results at team and project meetings.
- PhD in immunology.
- Competent in a wide range of laboratory techniques including, Flow cytometry, Cytokine measurement (MSD, Luminex, CBA, ELISA), human cell isolation and culture e.g. monocyte derived macrophages, immunofluorescence (IF), quantitative PCR (qPCR), Western blot (WB).
- Experience with running Myeloid cell-based assays.
- Excellent record keeping and a very high standard of data integrity.
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality, consistent results in a timely fashion.
- Ability to solve complex problems and work effectively in a matrix team.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data.
- Flexible, focused, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.
- Practical experience in genome editing
- Experience with iPSC derived myeloid cells and transcriptomic platforms such as Nano string and RNA-seq
- Post-doctoral experience in immunology
- Strong publication record
- Experience working in an industry - academic collaboration
