Financial Services Tax, Funds - Associate Director, Open to flexibility

The Opportunity

All financial institutions buy, hold or sell capital markets securities such as shares, bonds or derivatives and so they must consider tax risks and implications that arise from their securities activities. The operational and securities tax risks and implications need to be identified and managed, and include withholding tax, capital gains tax, stamp duty tax, financial transaction tax and tax reporting obligations.

In the current environment, new securities taxes are being introduced and tax authorities are increasing their scrutiny of securities transactions. The stakes of mismanaging the risks involved with securities taxes are high due to their financial impact on potential profit.

As a market leading practice across all securities taxes globally, we provide advice on efficient operational tax compliance for our clients. We are experienced in delivering seamless multi-jurisdictional projects, operational compliance healthchecks and reviews/internal audits, enabling us to provide advice that is both practical and commercial at all times.

In joining the Securities Tax team, you will gain access to senior tax and finance leaders as well as front office business teams within the world’s biggest banks, international broker dealers, custodians, asset managers and sovereign wealth funds and international broker dealers as well as other financial services organisations. Your advice will help organisations drive efficiency, quality and risk management through their business. You will develop strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted advisor and will build an understanding of how large businesses operate on a global level.

You will take ownership of project deliverables and account management, including liaising regularly with other client teams in London as well as counterparts in Deloitte’s global network of member firms. You will assume a leading role in the Securities Tax team in London.

Our people are talented, out-going and flexible individuals who are confident working side by side with senior personnel. They have deep experience in their specialism but are able to adapt to the ever evolving tax world.
