Senior Research and Statistical Analyst – Demography, Part time 18.5 hrs/wk including homeworking
The GLA’s Demography team undertakes analysis of the composition and dynamics of London’s population, providing insight and evidence to the city’s planners and policy makers.
We are looking for candidates with strong technical backgrounds, comfortable in a client-facing role, and experienced in communicating complex analysis to a wide range of audiences through presentations, briefings and publications.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team within the GLA’s City Intelligence Unit, working alongside specialists in modelling, policy analysis, economics and GIS, to provide decision makers with expert advice and intelligence.
They will also be responsible for telling the story of London’s population– maintaining and developing the analytical resources on the London Datastore available to policy-makers and citizens alike. In particular, to understand the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on London’s population as more robust data become available to enable us to understand the implications.

- Strong analytical skills, evidenced by a degree with appropriate technical content or relevant professional experience.
- Awareness of demographic and social factors relating to London’s population and evidence of commitment to keep abreast of new developments.
- Experience in the interpretation, analysis, and manipulation of complex data sets, using a variety of statistical methods and software tools.
- Experience writing up analysis for publication and preparing presentations containing both methodological and narrative commentary for a wide range of audiences.
This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL but will be hybrid working – a mixture of work from home and the office.
