This is a great opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to take on a central role within our finance team, coaching a small team to ensure the production of complete, accurate and timely monthly management accounts that provide insight and challenge. Our Finance function is changing – introducing new systems and enhanced MI capacity, so there’s lots of scope for you to make your mark in getting the most from these innovations. You can expect to be involved in the preparation, reporting and analysis of financial information including actuals, forecasts and budgets. You’ll work with finance business partners and budget holders to advise and support them in their management and recording of budgets, exploring and resolving any gaps and supporting them in decision making. You’ll also get involved in the production of Ofgem’s financial management information – reporting to stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc basis. Working with your team, you’ll look for opportunities to improve working practices and play an important part in developing the skills, knowledge and capability of colleagues.

The ability to work across different strands of work to meet competing deadlines will be vital and you should be accustomed to analysing data and designing management information reports that are accessible, insightful and support informed decision-making. You should have previous experience of reviewing work or policies and have the ability to provide insightful feedback.  You will and be able to demonstrate how you have identified and realised opportunities for improvement in finance processes in your career to date and stand ready to bring these to the forefront in your role at OFGEM . We expect that you’ll be a qualified accountant (CCAB) or that you can clearly demonstrate that you are approaching final qualification.
