Engineering Technician, Open to flexible working

In the heart of rural Teesdale, the GSK site at Barnard Castle is a key member of the Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) organisation producing some of the world's leading dermatological, sterile, inhaled and oral medicines for a wide range of diseases.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high-calibre Engineering Technician to join the Zinnat Supply Chain (ZSC) - who supply Cephalosporin antibiotics to numerous markets across the globe. This permanent and shift based role is to maintain our manufacturing & packing equipment and facilities.
You will work as part of a team to provide a comprehensive engineering service to meet business and regulatory requirements. You will provide technical expertise to the product stream and support to Safety and Quality compliance initiatives and Productivity improvements on a day to day and project basis.
You'll be a time served maintenance technician, ideally with a HNC/HND. Your previous experience may include a controls, electrical or mechanical bias, and you'll have the opportunity to expand your skills & experience working in a Multi Skilled environment.
The ideal person will be capable to undertake equipment repairs and continuous running adjustments, whilst ensuring work is carried out to GMP standards and in compliance with both company and external Standards.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Day to day breakdown cover of pharmaceutical inspection, assembly and packaging equipment as well as the building facility and associated services.
- Complete Maintenance activities (Work Orders).
- Support for area projects.
- Support for new product introduction.
- Change Control initiation, completion and sign off.
- Use of GSK's Enterprise Resource Planner (SAP) for - MERPS activities. Orders, Notifications, Data Maintenance
- Ordering of machine spares.
- Continuous Improvement, safety & quality actions.
- Equipment upgrades through continuous improvement.

- Relevant Apprenticeship / HNC / HND or equivalent qualification
- Multiskilled / Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics
- Experience with root cause analysis to prevent problems from re occurring.
- Experience working within a highly regulated manufacturing environment
- Provide a fault diagnostic and technical assistance service
- Resolution of technical issues with machine manufacturers
- Production of engineering reports
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical process and packaging equipment.
- Experience within a highly regulated production or packaging environment (eg clean-industry, FMCG, food, electronics or similar).
