eCommerce has been a significant growth channel for Diageo in GB, growing at >80% in value over the last year, the biggest growth contribution to the GB business over this period. This channel is all about capturing the shopper shift to online shopping and driving incremental growth for Diageo through the execution of unique eCommerce activations. With the environment we find ourselves in now, this channel will only continue to become more prevalent and a bigger part of our overall business.   

To capitalise on the shift to online shopping and ensure we are future proofing our business for the digital world, we recently launched a Direct to Consumer site, Malts.com and are in the process of significantly expanding this. The D2C trading manager will play a crucial role in the immediate D2C expansion and then the running of the D2C business tasked with growing sales, capturing and using relevant data and ensuring we are delivering on the USPs to driving customer engagement.

To win we must be mastery in combing and using Digital Marketing skills, Digital Commercial skills, data and analytics to identify insights and execute unique digital programs/activations. You must be a forward thinker who is able to live in ambiguity and develop game winning strategies. You need to be innovative and curious around the possibilities that Digital uniquely offers.

Top Accountabilities

Support the Head of D2C GB in the development and launch of the D2C expansion while ensuring continued growth on the existing D2C platform. Deliver the short and long term business case for the D2C expansion Once the D2C expansion has launched, the trading manager will lead the day to day commercial and activation plan for our D2Cs which will be directly for the end consumer. Specific responsibilities will include

  • Maintaining and updating pricing on site.
  • Sales forecasting across total portfolio
  • Promotional set up via Shopify
  • Email marketing content creation
  • Managing the internal planning cycle process for our D2Cs.
  • Direct contact with the site development agency to ensue up to date digital content.
  • Leading a variety of test & learn for Diageo through the DTC such as digital execution, brand content, innovation product launches, promotional plans etc.
