Administrative Officer, Part time 4 days/wk

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly organised individual (able to multi-task) with previous administrative experience, preferably in a not-for-profit and/or membership body. The existing staff team is small, professional and friendly. The successful candidate will need to be a good team player and be able to show an ability to work autonomously with initiative to help us develop. The post will suit someone who is keen to develop their career in the not-for-profit or professional membership body sector.

Reporting to the Head of Business and Administration, the post holder will be responsible for a wide range of administrative functions to ensure the smooth running and ongoing success of the organisation. The post holder will provide:

  1. Administrative support to the organisation’s regulatory role: annual CPD accreditation of registrants; accreditation and reaccreditations of our member institution’s training courses; complaints procedure; and support to our Independent Scrutiny and Advisory Committee.
  2. Administrative support to the organisation’s professional body activities: member and registrant services; events management; and marketing.

A salary of £24,000–26,000 depending on experience per annum full-time equivalent plus 6% pension contribution and annual season ticket loan is offered.

This is a permanent part-time role for 4 days / 28 hours a week open to flexibility.

We offer a generous 28 days annual leave per year, plus bank and other statutory holidays. A number of our committees do meet in the evening so we are looking someone able and willing to work flexibly with some evenings and the occasional Saturday – time off in lieu is always given and the office operates flexible working practice throughout the normal working week.

The post is London based although some occasional travel (to visit our member organisations or to support a conference) may be required.

The candidate pack contains the information you will need to make an application for the post.

Application is by CV and a supporting statement outlining why you believe yourself to be suitable for the role. Please provide evidence of your achievements against the bullet points in the person specification and be sure to include your full contact details including daytime and evening telephone numbers. Also include contact details of two references (one of which should be your current or last employer). We will not contact references without your prior permission.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 26th November 2017 and interviews of short-listed candidates will take place week commencing 4th December
