We now have two great career opportunities for people with proven expertise in developing and shaping strategic projects or workstreams to take on hugely varied roles that get involved in the full spectrum of the energy sector. Your role will be similar to a consultant – you’ll work with project teams to support and facilitate different work programmes, helping to establish structure, governance and timelines, creating the project framework that enables the team to then deliver independently, freeing you up to move on to the next challenge (while continuing to be available as a critical friend). Topics you could be working on include future energy retail strategies; energy system governance, the potential of data and digital technology for the energy sector; and how to enhance the impact of energy regulation.
It’s a role that will suit someone who is naturally curious, highly motivated and can both develop strategy and help translate strategy into delivery. You’ll need to have excellent analytical skills, so that you can work well with quantitative and qualitative information and draw on a wide range of source material in shaping your recommendations. You’ll have proven skills in stakeholder engagement and an ability to convey complex issues clearly and concisely, and you will be comfortable working well with competing priorities in a fast -moving environment. Right now you could be working in a range of settings: in the energy sector; undertaking consultancy work; working in research / analysis; or in an innovation role.
