Within the Birmingham office, the General Dental Council (GDC) have a number of career-enhancing opportunities for Caseworkers to develop and further their investigatory and case management skills across Fitness to Practice (FtP) cases. These fixed term contract posts offer excellent potential to increase your expertise within a regulatory sector whilst making a worthwhile contribution to patient safety.

The work of the Fitness to Practise team is vital in ensuring public confidence in the dental sector. We investigate concerns of shortcomings in conduct or competence where patients may be at serious risk. When appropriate we take action to mitigate that risk.

Caseworkers play an essential role managing specific activity within cases right through to successful resolution, ensuring that sensitive information is managed securely in line with departmental policy. There is a busy and varied caseload across the team and caseworkers are expected to progress cases in a timely fashion, deliver excellent customer service and will deal with a range of external organisations in a supportive environment.

The ability to write concisely, identify key issues and make recommendations supported by strong arguments is essential. If you have a proven track record in managing sensitive or confidential information, either in a regulator sector or a similar environment we would like to hear from you.

The people we interact with daily are incredibly diverse and we know how much of an asset empathy is to the way we operate. Your skills and expertise in equality and diversity, either as lived-in experience or as an ally, will be incredibly helpful in adding to the effectiveness of the team.
