Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers, and great for the environment.

We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding, where you can get involved in ground-breaking work. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

Our Settlement Reform team is delivering new arrangements for electricity settlement, making full use of accurate data from smart meters. It’s an initiative that will support innovation and a smart, flexible energy system, reduce energy costs for consumers and help us work towards a net zero future. You will work closely with industry stakeholders and oversee the implementation of new systems and processes through changes to the industry codes. You’ll engage with technical experts drawing on their expertise to ensure outcomes on code changes and design issues are fully informed.

We are looking for someone with excellent judgement, communication and regulatory skills who is already familiar with the GB electricity system. You’ll need proven analytical skills, enabling you to work with complex policy issues and arrive at robust and informed recommendations. You’ll have a track record of delivery, able to prioritise competing deadlines effectively, even when co-ordinating input from a wide range of internal and external contributors. Your technical expertise will likely have been developed within the energy industry and you’ll need the communication and engagement skills to help non-technical colleagues understand technical issues and take good decisions.
