The Remedies, Business and Financial Analysis (RBFA) professional group plays a central role in the work of the CMA. RBFA is responsible for developing remedies to tackle competition and consumer problems and contributing business and financial analysis to assist case assessments. The work is wide ranging, intellectually stimulating and makes a real positive difference to the UK.
As an RBFA Director, you might find yourself leading teams developing major market interventions (such as Open Banking), analysing profitability in markets as diverse as pharmaceuticals or funerals or reviewing regulatory decisions by economic regulators in sectors such as energy or water. Your responsibility will extend to helping inform the CMA’s understanding of how business and markets are functioning, overseeing high quality commercial and financial analysis, and shaping decisions as to whether there is a competition or consumer concern. For instance, you will work on merger control, offering commercial insights to the evaluation of issues such as whether the target company is a 'failing firm' and design and oversee divestiture remedies to preserve a competitive market structure.
Managing and developing the talents of your team is a key part to the role. In turn you will also have the opportunity to learn from leaders around you, with a diverse range of professional backgrounds and experience from both public and commercial sectors.

What we are looking for
To be successful in your application you will need a postgraduate business, finance or accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, CFA or MBA) or equivalent postgraduate experience, with familiarity with economics and financial theory and high levels of professional achievement.
Your experience will include effective and inclusive team leadership and developing high calibre and diverse talents. You will bring to the role a track record of leading, managing and delivering complex projects with defined resources and to tight timescales. You will also have a proven ability to provide thought leadership, combining commercial, analytical, and interpretive experience, supported by excellent communication and representation skills.
