This is a central leadership role within the organisation, which will ensure the right resources are available to support the full range of Ofgem’s work. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a modern, customer focused finance function that is closely aligned to our strategic objectives and supports managers across the organisation in managing their budgets and resources effectively. Working alongside budget holders you’ll improve financial management and controls that are supported by resilient and up-to-date systems and processes. It’s an ideal opportunity for a highly capable finance professional who can lead service improvement, work with others to solve problems and simplify processes to arrive at great outcomes.

We expect you’ll hold a CCAB or equivalent qualification and that you already have a broad range of financial management experience and knowledge of civil service finance, risk management and procurement. Your career to date will already have seen you working with Boards and senior leaders, building trust and rapport and enabling you to advise on key decisions. You’ll be a naturally collaborative person who can work well with colleagues from a wide range of professional disciplines and lead a high performing and motivated finance team. Excellent communication skills (in writing and in person) will be key, including the ability to bring financial issues and procedures to life for different audiences.
