What the consumer sees and experiences at the point of purchase is critical to recruiting new consumers into our brands and winning share. We know that 40% of off trade purchase decisions are made in store, and that 2/3 of on trade consumers are open to brand influence in outlet. How do we continually improve our brands’ visibility at the moment of choice to drive penetration, and ensure that every touchpoint is influencing consumer purchase decisions in outlet to drive value for Diageo?

The Customer Marketing Services team is responsible for the delivery of shopper mechanics, POS solutions and Gifting/Packaging solutions across Europe that maximise availability of our brands at the point of purchase. We are accountable to deliver market-ready formats and tools of the right quality, scale and value. As part of the central Europe Customer Marketing team, you will partner with Brand Marketing and Country Customer Marketing functions to optimise tools that prompt consumers to choose Diageo brands on more occasions.  

The role

In this role you will help shape these outcomes and support country customer marketing teams to execute brilliantly at point of purchase. Requiring both commercial capability and marketing flair, you will need to engage and inspire a broad range of stakeholders across Europe and Global Consumer Marketing, Customer Marketing, Procurement, External Agency partners and Supply to create brilliant new solutions for our brands.

Key outcomes: 

  • POS and ROS mechanics are focused on influencing consumer purchase behaviour, driving business value growth and is simpler to manage and execute, across all trade channels.
  • Responsibility to execute the roll out of a new POS market place in Europe, transforming the way POS is managed globally
  • Create effective Agency relationships to deliver creativity, efficiency and simplicity to the business, and monitor performance impact with countries.  Partner with Europe country teams to ensure our agency partnerships are delivering on consumer and customer commercial needs.
  • Create inspiring Gifting & VAP solutions that prompt consumers across Europe to buy our brands on more of their celebration occasions.
  • Sharp focus on M&E to drive better business decisions. 

What would you need to demonstrate in order to be successful in this role? 

  • Good level of Customer Marketing experience, and/or commercial experience.  Ideally experience across at least 2 of these functional areas.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire, creating effective relationships and collaboration
  • Clear end to project management and communications planning capability
  • Creative judgement combined with commercial acumen
  • A track record of creating and implementing change
